A Night with the “Poet” McGonagall

Mr McGonagall, the bard of the “Silvery Tay and its Wonderful Bridge” gave one of his celebrated entertainments to a large audience in Dundee last night. Several of Shakespeare’s well known speeches were recited in a style at once forcible and truly original; and during the evening Mr McGonagall enlivened the proceedings by rendering- a number of songs of his own composition. A table served the purpose of a stage, and the effect was considerably enhanced from the fact that the performances occasionally took place in the dark. Mr McGonagall kept his audience spellbound throughout, and tremendous applause greeted every effort of the unique expositor.
